Why XKCD is absolutely fantastic

I apologise for the quality of tonight’s entry, as it’s shit because I can’t be bothered quite frankly. For some reason I convinced myself I’d already written one earlier and I’ve only just realised that I need to get it done.

Although, given that the comic below is from XKCD, you could argue that it’s actually of higher quality than usual*.

One of my favourite things about XKCD is the extra joke or comments that are hidden in the alt text for the image. The above image contained this:

After years of trying various methods, I broke this habit by pitting my impatience against my laziness. I decoupled the action and the neurological reward by setting up a simple 30-second delay I had to wait through, in which I couldn’t do anything else, before any new page or chat client would load (and only allowed one to run at once). The urge to check all those sites magically vanished–and my ‘productive’ computer use was unaffected.

Further proof that it’s absolute fucking genius.

* You would also be correct.
